Public sector performance evaluations are done with the aim of assessing the extent to which MDAs have achieved their agreed targets. Government therefore uses the evaluations as a step towards improving Public Sector’s Performance and development impact, transparency, and accountability. Evaluations are done by Independent Evaluators for objectivity and integrity of the results.

All evaluations are conducted in collaboration with the core team on Public Sector Performance Management Systems drawn from various key Ministries and Departments. PED acts as a secretariat to the evaluation exercise. The first round of public sector evaluations was started in 2013/14 FY through Organisational Performance Agreements (OPA).

The OPA was implemented for two years up to 2014/15 FY. From 2015/16 FY, Government migrated to Performance Contracts which incorporates the balanced scorecard and improves comparability of performance across MDAs. (A link to Assessment Reports – under Documents)
